Deleting your Instagram account but have forgotten your password?

So, for whatever reason, you’ve chosen to clean up your social network profiles. Perhaps you don’t even use your accounts as often as you used to and have chosen to remove them permanently. But what if you don’t recall the password to your old Instagram profile and want to remove it? There is, however, a method.

If you’ve been locked from your Instagram profile and want to erase it permanently, there’s a way to implement it, but you’ll have to follow these exact procedures.

Deleting the account

Before you delete your Instagram account, you should login in and save a copy of your data (such as your photographs and posts). You won’t be able to do it once you delete your account.

From a mobile browser or a computer, go to Delete Your Account Page. If you’re not already logged to into Instagram on the internet, you’ll be prompted to do so. You can’t remove your Instagram account from inside programme.

Why are you deactivating your account? Select an item from the drop-down menu. And then type in your password again. After you’ve chosen a reason from the menu, you’ll have the choice to permanently deactivate your account. Delete [username] by clicking or tapping it.

What if you have forgotten your password?

Normally, you’d have to be logged in to deactivate your Instagram account. If you forget your passcode, you can see how that might be a major issue. If it doesn’t work, I recommend going to the Instagram recovery page. Instagram can send out a message to the email address you used to register your account (provided it isn’t linked to your Facebook account).

On your smartphone, open the Instagram app. On the login screen, tap “Forgotten password.” Choose “Username” or “Email” and type in your user id or the email account you used to create your account. In the top right corner, press “Search.” To reset your password, choose “Send email.”

Using Facebook account

This option is useful if your Instagram account was previously linked to your Facebook account. On your smartphone, open the Instagram app. On the login menu, select “Forgotten password.” Choose “Username” or “Email” and enter your user id or the email account you used to create your account, as described in the preceding instruction. In the top right corner, press “Search.” Via Facebook, tap “Renewal.”

You would be prompted to log into Facebook if you haven’t previously done so. Instagram will show you the most recent account that was linked to your Facebook profile and offer the possibility to set a new password.

Using a phone number to access Instagram

On your smartphone, open the Instagram app. Choose “I’ve forgotten my password.” Select “Phone” from the drop-down menu. Enter your phone number after selecting your country’s code. Select “Send Login Link” from the menu. The login link will be sent to your phone’s Messages inbox. You’ll be sent back to the Instagram app if you tap the link. Now enter the new password you want and confirm it.
